Johnny Cat - Vocals / Manager
John started the band back in 1993.
It was only meant to be a hobby but 13 years later and
Souled Out have played at top venues all over the UK
supporting artists like Jools Holland, The Darkness,
Heather Small, Boney M and The Drifters to name but
a few. When he's not busy fronting one of the tightest
bands on the circuit, John is a closet thespian and
has appeared on the TV in a number of programmes including
'The Secret Plot To Kill Adolf Hitler' where he played
Molotov and 'The Millennium Dome Heist' where he played
the dome. He was on the 'Weakest Link Entertainers Special'
a couple of years ago and managed to sing to Anne Robinson.
He was voted off first.

Dave Fish - Vocals / Tambourine / Cowbell
Dave is one of the founder members
of Souled Out and is the undisputed best singer in the
band. Hold on....that's Daves handwriting! Dave has
had a long and distinguished career in the music industry
starting when he was five and won a singing competition
at Butlins. Dreams of stardom occupied his mind for
many years but after being kicked out of the Dagenham
Girl Pipers for not coming from Dagenham, his career
hit the skids for a while until he was introduced to
Johnny Cat by the bands first drummer, Gary Law. Since
then he has gone on to be the undisputed best tambourine
player in the band. Smokes like a chimney.

Joiese - Vocals
Joiese began her career
starring as Blousey Brown in the West End production
of Bugsy Malone at the tender age of eleven. She then
went on to appear in various musicals, including Guys
& Dolls, Grease and My Fair Lady in the West End, in
which she played the leading role of Eliza Doolittle.
Joiese has also appeared in pantomimes as well as various
television programmes and commercials. Joiese has been
a proud member of Souled Out for 9 years and look forward
to the band’s continuing success.

Lisa Fabian - Vocals
Lisa started her singing career performing
with Rick Astley back in the 80’s when Johnny Cat still
had hair. It's a natural career progression to move
from Stock Aitken and Waterman to Souled Out so expect
to see Pete Burns, Hazell Dean and Sinitta joining the
band soon! Lisa has recently come back into the welcoming
bosom of the Souled Out family having had a beautiful
baby boy. The fact that the little critter looked exactly
like Johnny Cat when he was born is a total coincidence.
Let's face it, all babies look like Johnny Cat when
they are born!

Maria - Vocals
How Do You Solve A Problem Like Maria? That was the question we were asking ourselves. We thought long and hard about it. Should we have a long, drawn out talent contest which involved people ringing in and voting for their favourite each week? Should we ring Simon Cowell and see if he was free for a weekend? Should we drag Brucie out of retirement and be a judge? In the end we decided the easiest course of action was to get a fantastically talented and gorgeous singer called Maria. When you think about it, it's pretty clever.

Julie - Vocals
Julie comes from a musical theatre background and has performed in a number of West End shows including Grease, Boogie Nights, Footloose, Happy Days, The Graduate and Starlight Express.
When questioned about the rumours surrounding certain..*ahem*..members of the band, Julie confirmed that there is absolutely no similarity whatsoever between Johnny Cat and Dirk Diggler from Boogie Nights. None. At all. So let that be the end of the rumours. Started by Mr Cat. |

Jon Bénét - Keyboards
Started working as a professional musician
at the age of 18 and has worked in a variety of venues
including West End Shows, Cruise Ships and London Hotels.
Has previously worked as a Musical Director for Marti
Webb, Bonnie Langford, Martine McCutcheon and Elaine
Page. Jon has been running his own big band since 1978,
which, as well as performing in some top venues throughout
the UK, has worked (amongst others) with Don Lusher
and Kenny Baker. Was voted the sexiest member of the
band on the old website. He obviously has a large family.
|
 |
Ray Jones - Guitar
Ray shot to fame playing the guitar
in “Four Weddings and a Funeral”. Since then he has
gone from strength to strength and has now reached the
pinnacle of his guitar playing career - working with
Souled Out. When he is not playing guitar for the band,
Ray is a professional rust repairer and also has the
largest collection of left handed screwdrivers in the
South East. Was officially the least sexy member of
Souled Out according to the vote on the old site.

Danny Boy - Drums
Danny joins Souled Out having played with Nik Kershaw and Chaz and Dave amongst others. He's promised to provide us with a full bio at some point in the future but he's has just nipped off to Margate to have some jellied eels and a pint of Courage.

Young Brad - Drums
Young Brad is only five and like lots of little boys, he likes to bash things with sticks. We used to let him sit on the tour bus with us and whack old jam jars and empty tins of beans to entertain us on long trips Oop North.
One day Danny Boy got stuck in the toilets at a gig in Macclesfield. Rather than cancel the gig, we let Young Brad sit in for him on the drums and he stepped up from whacking jam jars to whacking Premier drum sets pretty well so, every now and then, we let him come out to play with the adults. |
 |
Chaz - Bass
Chaz started playing bass relatively
late at the age of eighteen but has been playing in
bands ever since. His early influences were heavy metal
and one of his first bands were 'Battlezone' with former
Iron Maiden vocalist, Paul Diano. He then went on to
form 'Wildpassion', a pop funk band that played the
London circuit including a gig at the Marquee on Wardour
Street. He concentrated on playing keyboards and writing
songs for the next few years but was persuaded to get
back on the gig circuit by Johnny Cat in Tesco's in
Bromley following an argument between the two over a
parking spot.

Trevor - Trumpet
How Trevor came to be in Souled Out
is one of those stories that is often told on the circuit.
Firstly, let us put a couple of urban legends to rest.
Trevor was not captured on a Pacific island, transported
across the Atlantic on a steam liner and displayed to
baying crowds in New York City before scaling the Empire
State Building where he fell in love with Joiese and
returned to England to be in the band. Nor was he raised
by apes in the jungle, discovered by explorers and bought
back to England to become the Earl of Greystoke. The
story of Trevor joining the band is far more fantastic
than any of those and...oh dear...we seem to have run
out of space. Another time, perhaps?

Rico - Sax
Citing his influences as John Coltrane,
Charlie Parker, Joe Lovano and Lisa Simpson, Rico is
the Sax Man. Rico is an expert on the history of the
saxophone. He can tell you that Antoine-Joseph Sax is
the man credited as being the inventor of the instrument.
He could also tell you that the earliest recorded mention
of the saxophone was 12 June 1842 when Hector Belioz
wrote about this new, magical instrument in the Paris
magazine 'Journal des Debats'. Without doubt he could
tell you that Wagner introduced the saxophone to the
masses in 1861 at the premier of his opera 'Tannhauser'.
He can't, however, spell saxophone.

Dave "Muzza" Murray - Trombone
In the same way that Rico is an expert
about his instrument, Dave is the complete opposite.
He hasn't got a clue. In fact he doesn't even know what
a trombone looks like. You see Dave suffers from a rare
condition where if he hears the word 'trombone', he
wets himself. He discovered that he suffered from this
highly unusual complaint on a traumatic visit to the
National Trombone Exhibition at the age of 8. Since
that day Dave has erased the word from his memory by
using a combination of ancient Chinese mind control
and highly addictive drugs. What you and I see as a
trombone, Dave sees as a 'peepee'. Dave would like to
say that he loves playing with his peepee in Souled
Out.

The Crew
The technical team is headed up by
Nigel Davidson, of Classique Events in Chelmsford. Most
of the equipment used by Souled Out is supplied by them.
The crew operates a "no nonsense" approach to getting
the job completed as efficiently as possible accommodating
the requirements of the customer and venue wherever
possible. The crew used to love playing practical jokes
on the band but that all had to stop after a gig in
Macclesfield where they looped the word 'trombone' into
Muzza's earpiece as he was standing next to an electrical
supply.
